Character
Cast of AAT1: (Main Cast)
Mama
Mousekewitz
The
mother of Fievel, Tanya and Yasha. She is believed to be
the stricter parent of the two. She has a fear of heights
and like many mice, has a very open and deep fear of cats.
Papa
Mousekewitz
The
head of the Mousekewitz family. He loved to tell stories
and play the violin for his kids. When Papa's family was
moving to Minsk, his parents were killed by cats and he
became an orphan. His story of the Giant Mouse of Minsk
was the key to driving the Mott Street Maulers out of New
York City and was dubbed as the mice's Secret Weapon.
After Fievel is washed off the boat to American, Papa
overcome with grief refuses to believe in any slight
chance that Fievel had survived from the sea and now was
in New York. But his disbelief was doused when Tanya meets
up with Tony and Bridget and they show Papa Fievel's hat.
Tanya
Mousekewitz
Tanya
is Fievel and Yasha's sister (according to An American
Tail's official website she is younger then Fievel). She
is obedient, cheerful, buoyant and always positive. When
Fievel was lost at sea, upon their arrival in New York
City, Tanya never lost faith in believing that Fievel was
still alive and in New York however her hope would be at
last fulfilled when Fievel discovered at the end of the
film. At Castle Garden (immigration) her name was changed
to Tillie.
Fievel
Mousekewitz
The
star in which the whole movie evolves around. Prior to
landing in America Fievel is characterized as a energetic,
curious, brave and resourceful kid, though in America he
became lost and scared in a new and bizarre land. But with
the help of friends Henri, Tony, Bridget and Tiger he
manages to maintain hope and gains encouragement to
continue his search. The nickname Philly given to him is
possibly a reference to his voice actor (Phillip Glasser).
Fievel is one of 3 kids of Mama and Papa Mousekewitz, the
other two are sisters Tanya and baby Yasha.
Yasha
Mousekewitz
Yasha
is Mama's & Papa's little baby girl and is Tanya and
Fievel's baby sister.
Henri
Henri
is a pigeon of French descent who is currently building
the Statue of Liberty when first seen. Henri who finds Fievel
in a bottle washed up on the island in New York, is
the first to meet Fievel upon coming to America. He takes
Fievel back to his place to get him back on his feet to
search for his beloved family with the message of
"Never Say Never". In hearing this Fievel begins
his search.
Warren
T. Rat "Cat"
This
is the movies main villain. Warren T. is the leader of the
Mott Street Maulers, which is a gang of cats who terrorize
the mice of New York City and is actually a cat disguised
as a rat. He pretends to the mice to be a source of
security to them by ensuring their safety from the cats,
receiving money from them as a warranty. Warren is
accompanied by Digit (a small cockroach) who happens to be
his accountant. Warren also profits from Moe, who runs a
sweatshop with mice as laborers. Fievel meets Warren when
he goes to immigration in search of his family. This is
when Warren brings Fievel to work for Moe. Warren also
likes to play the violin and often quotes Shakespeare
(both very poorly).
Tony
Toponi
A
streetwise young mouse of Italian descent with a 'tough
New Yorker' attitude. Tony first meets Fievel during their
time in Moe's sweatshop and quickly takes a liking to
Fievel. Also when escaping the sweatshop Tony gives Fievel
an American nickname 'Philly'. Tony quickly becomes
Fievel's friend and guide to the town. During his time
helping Fievel find is family he meets up with a pretty
Irish activist named Bridget, and becomes very fond of
her.
Tiger
A
big, long fur cat who dislikes the taste for mice, instead
he likes some fish and mostly vegetarian foods. Tiger was
a member of Warren T. Rat's Mott Street Maulers' cat-gang
until he met up with Fievel. When he released Fievel from
his cage Warren fired Tiger after Fievel and Tigers duo.
Tiger is the only mice loving cat to become friends of the
mouse population.
(Other
Cast)
Digit
Warren
T. Rat's cockroach accountant, mostly seen with Warren.
Digit has electricity surging through his antennae. He
often helps Warren with some of Shakespeare's analogies
which also irritates him along with Warren's violin music
and his cigar smoking habit.
Moe
The
boss of the sweatshop in which many emigrated mice work.
Moe is in partnership with Warren T. Rat, as seen when
Warren brings Fievel to the sweatshop to work for Moe.
Tony also worked for Moe and escaped with the help of
Fievel. Moe is a big brown mouse that treats his workers
poorly and pays them very low wages. He is only seen once
in the first feature film.
Bridget
An
Irish activist and Tony's girlfriend. She very much adores
Fievel and along with Tony helps Fievel find his family.
She tells Fievel that her parents were killed by cats 2
years ago in November.
Honest
John
A
local politician who knows every voting mouse in New York
City. A constant drunkard who takes advantage of every
voter's concern to increase his political prestige.
Gussie
Mausheimer
A
German mouse, she is New York City's richest mouse, who
rallies the mice into fighting back against the cats
(a.k.a the Mott Street Maulers). She is pompous and prone
