2014 AHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC; ST. JOHN'S CANADA

The IceCaps hosted the 2014 AHL All-Star Festivities back in the 2013-'14 AHL Season . This marked the first time the IceCaps hosted the event as well as the 2nd time the city of St. John's hosted the AHL ASC. The Baby Leafs back in the 2001-'02 AHL Season hosted the ASC with Canada vs. Planet USA as the teams and ESPN2 and Sportsnet doing the broadcast. The 2014 version marked the first for the new format as the AHL Stars will go against Farjestad BK from the Swedish Elite League. The event was during the IceCaps 3rd AHL regular season since relocating from Winnipeg, Manitoba back in 2011.

ON THE MOVE - JETS TO CANADIENS NOW TO LAVAL, QUEBEC

As a Jets affiliate the IceCaps played out 4 seasons in St. John's before the Jets relocating their AHL team to Winnipeg and begin again as the reincarnated Manitoba Moose. However upon the relocations it was announced the Canadiens were relocating their AHL team from Hamilton, Ontario to St. John's for the start of 2015-'16 season thus no interruption of play at Mile One but an organizational change. But once again the IceCaps are now slated to relocate to Laval, Quebec after just 2 seasons of play in the AHL since Hamilton to become the Laval Rocket for the 2017-'18 season. As of right now there is no replacement set up to fill the voice and thus Mile One can once again become a vacant venue without minor pro hockey for the foreseeable future. All in all that's a total of 6 seasons of IceCaps Hockey that will/have been played since the Winnipeg Jets relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers, also was St. John's first AHL teams since 2005 and main occupant since the Fog Devils relocated in 2008.
