Players:
2 or 4 with just 2 teams, as in a game of
hockey. Great for 4 players and for parties.
Dealing
Start by dealing entire deck of 52
cards (without jokers) to the players - 13 cards each. Players sitting
opposite of each other are partners. Once all cards are dealt, the game
can begin.
Leading
The player holding the 4 of clubs
opens the first period of play. (There is a total of 3 periods, just
like in real hockey.)
Play continues clockwise. At the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd periods
the trailing team may lead any card.
Scoring
A player scores by matching the
card played before them. Example: if a player plays a 7 of hearts
and the next player plays any other 7 then that team collects that goal,
and clears the cards.
Play continues until all the cards have been played. At the end of each
period goals are counted and tallied.
Goals, Saves, and Checks
Goals. There are
automatic goals that can be played. Any 2 played counts as an automatic
goal regardless of the card played before it.
Saves: 3's and J's count as saves, meaning the only way to score
a goal on either of these cards, is to use a 2.
Checking: This is the best part of the game. You want to keep the
cards you have not yet played close to your body. Players from the
opposite team are allowed to look at your hand, while you are holding
them. Makes for interesting behavior. |
